Is the diesel generator oil likely to deteriorate and turn black?

2024-08-05

Pay attention to these details, otherwise the diesel generator oil is likely to deteriorate and turn black? The engine oil of a diesel generator is as important as the blood of the human body. When choosing engine oil, users should choose the engine oil with the appropriate quality grade and viscosity grade according to the local season and temperature. At the same time, they should also pay attention to regular replacement. During the use of the diesel generator set You also need to pay attention to the following details, otherwise it is very likely to cause the engine oil to deteriorate and turn black at an accelerated rate, affecting the normal operation of the unit.

  1. When replacing the oil of the diesel generator set, the lubricating oil tank and oil passages of the diesel generator set must be cleaned. If it is not cleaned, its residue will contaminate the new oil and cause the engine oil to turn black.

  1. During the operation of the diesel generator set, pay attention to observe whether the fuel is completely burned, whether there is excessive wear between the piston, piston ring and cylinder, and whether the sealing is not tight. If the fuel combustion is incomplete, exhaust gas entering the lubricating oil tank will cause the lubricating oil to quickly become black and thick.

Lubricating oil that meets the grade requirements must be selected. High-temperature, high-speed, and high-load diesel generator sets should use lubricating oil with good oxidation stability and good additive quality. Using oil with poor quality will quickly deepen and turn the oil color black.

Normal new engine oil is generally oily yellow. Blackening of the engine oil indicates that it contains excessive impurities, such as extremely small metal cutting particles, carbon deposits, etc. These impurities are transported to the friction surfaces that need lubrication during the operation of the diesel generator, which will cause serious secondary wear and tear on the machine parts. At this time, all the engine oil must be replaced. During normal use, if it is a new engine, For a unit that has been operated for one time or overhauled, the oil generally needs to be replaced after 50 hours of operation, and the oil filter must also be replaced. Under normal circumstances, the oil needs to be replaced after 250 hours of operation. Of course, if the diesel generator set If it is used in a relatively harsh climate environment, the oil replacement cycle must be advanced accordingly.

Engine oil is essential for the operation of the diesel generator set. Once an abnormal condition of the engine oil is found, the user needs to replace it in time.
